It is a my great privilege to serve as your 2017 JCBA President.  I am aware of the big shoes I must now fill - those left by so many who have throughout the long history of JCBA, made a positive impression on our organization and in our legal community.  I, therefore, extend a sincere gesture of gratitude to our immediate past President, Ms. Tiffany Hogan, who tirelessly worked in these past two years to further JCBA’s interests and presence in our community. It would be unforgivable if I didn’t also extend a similar gesture and a “shout-out” to others that for years and years have served as the pillars and foundations of our organization. The likes of Keith Cutler, Judge Otto, Kori Carew, Vanita Massey, Carla-Fields-Johnson, Lajuana Counts, Mischa Bufford Epps, and so many others. Your continued support, counsel, and wisdom is indispensable.

I am keenly aware of the challenges facing us in 2017 but not discouraged.  These challenges present opportunities for JCBA to continue to champion the principles of Justice, Equality, and Fairness. Above all, I am excited, because 2017 is a mile-stone year for JCBA.  From commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Annual Judge Kit Carson Roque, Jr. Scholarship Banquet, to celebrating JCBA’s place in history as one of the oldest Associations in Missouri, if not the Country; 2017 is set out to be a memorable year.

To assist us with our goals for 2017, we introduced the JCBA Newsletter, "The JCBA ADVISOR a monthly newsletter, in hopes that it will brings us even closer together, while highlighting the accomplishments of our organization and of its members. We hope you like what you see, and encourage you to participate in its development.  We have also undertook to revive our presence online through a revamped website (www.jacksoncountybar.com), sounder presence on Facebook (@jacksoncountybar) and Twitter (@JCBA_Mo), as well as launching our presence on LinkedIn. As we celebrate in 2017, please be looking for exciting news throughout.

Now, let’s all make 2017 JCBA’s best year yet.
